The Steward Board
Mr. Tony Harris Steward Pro Tem
The Steward Board is responsible for the financial and spiritual governance of the church. Stewards are charged with overseeing the fiduciary interests of the church as well as establishing operating policies and procedures. The Steward Board approves new initiatives, programs and capital expenses as recommended by the pastor. Stewards are appointed annually by the pastor.
The Trustee Board
Mr. James Larkins, Vice Chair
The Trustee Board is responsible for the temporal concerns of the church. Trustees are charged with safeguarding all of Greater Smith Chapel’s real estate and other properties and for making improvements when necessary. Trustees are nominated by the Pastor and elected annually by the congregation.
The Stewardess Board
Mrs. Deborah Quayeteteh
The Stewardess Board is responsible for providing the elements for Holy Communion. They also assist the ministerial staff with Holy Communion and Baptismal rites. Stewardess are appointed by the pastor
Women’s Missionary Society
The Women's Missionary Society of the A.M.E. Church and Greater Smith Chapel exists to:
1. Help women and youth grow in the knowledge of God and Christian experience through Jesus Christ
2. Works with the Connectional Church by promoting fellowship with women of other lands through cooperative relationships. 3. Foster missionary activities of our local church and the Edgewood Community by participating in community outreach service and Nehemiah initiatives. 4. Tend to the needs of the sick and shut in, the homeless and the hungry.
5. Provide HIV/AIDs ministry in collaboration with AID Atlanta’s Sister SOLS Prog

Young People’s Division Ms. Diane Harris, Director The Young People's Department (YPD) is a division of the Women's Missionary Society. The purpose of the YPD is... 1. To provide meaningful youth training programs in all areas of church life, which will provide for full participation in the total mission of the church. 2. To provide specific training to increase knowledge of A.M.E. history and the Scriptures. 3. To provide opportunities for leadership experience.

This ministry creates an atmosphere for motivating Christians to become effective church workers. The program seeks to establish a church learning environment that stimulates and enhances knowledge of, interpretation of, living and doing the Word...thus promoting Christian growth, development, and service.Education is vital part of any Christian's life - especially new ones! We encourage you to become involved in a regular Bible Study program. Greater Smith Chapel offers two excellent opportunities to do this - Church School and Bible Study. We encourage you to participate in both. Church SchoolChurch School is offered every Sunday from 9:30AM until 10:45AM. Our church school provides classes for all ages, pre-school to adult. The classes are designed to present you with a challenging and comprehensive look at God's Word, and to make God's Word alive in your life. We encourage you to join us as a staff member or student. Wednesday Night Bible Study
A multi-generational Bible Study class... like no other... This class has sincere bible study, lively discussion, and laughter. This hour is dedicated to the study of the Bible and how understanding of the Scriptures will allow a closer relationship with God. Everyone is welcome. Music Ministry

The Music Ministry is dedicated to worshiping God by proclaiming His glory with a joyful noise. Currently, we have two wonderful choirs: The Voices of Zion Choir
A multi-generational choir that offers a variety of music, from hymns to anthems and spirituals...and from piano accompanied to a Capella. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays at 7 PM. This choir leads in the ministry of music on the First, Second and Fourth Sundays. The Youth Choir
Consists of youth from 5 – 16 and is an excellent opportunity for young people to showcase their God given gift of song. Rehearsals are held on Saturdays at noon. This choir leads in the ministry of music on the Third and Fifth Sundays. Pastor’s Aid Board

The Communications Ministry provides a vehicle for two-way communication so that members of Greater Smith Chapel and the community can be aware of the many activities and services offered by the church. The goal is to motivate members to fully support the church with their time, service and/or financial gifts. The communications ministry uses all forms of media to achieve this goal. The purpose of the lay organization is to organize and train the laity of the A.M.E. Church so that each layperson may utilize his/her abilities and skills granted by God. The lay organization assists with the improvement and extension of God’s kingdom, and creates happiness, peace, and harmony among its members. The Liturgical Dance Ministry The primary function of the Greater Smith Chapel Liturgical Dance Ministry is to release the Glory of God in dance. The Greater Smith Chapel A.M.E. Liturgical Dancers ministers through dances that focus on praise and worship, deliverance, healing, salvation, warfare and edification. We strive to bring hope and joy to all. Meets 2nd and 3rd Saturdays
Community Outreach – Hope Floats Hope Floats will be the umbrella that GSC will operate our Community Outreach Programs which will include:
1. Chat and Chew-a bi weekly shared meal with community members to discuss the barriers to moving forward as well as an opportunity to offer other resources. 2. GSC Employment Project - a staffing company putting people to work 3. GSC Artisan Project- an opportunity for some GSC folk art. 4. Food Bank 5. Clothes Closet 6. Sister SOL in collaboration with AID Atlanta - SISTA SOL provides educational programs, outreach activities, social support, and appearances at special events designed to reduce behaviors that place African American Women for HIV and other STDs. The goals of SISTA SOL are to minimize new infections among women, and reinforce healthy behaviors 7. After 7 - After 7 is a safe space for community youth to come receive homework help and hang out at the church Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after school.
